In recent years, a revolutionary new bio-mechanically based therapy, Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), has evolved for evaluating and correcting muscular imbalances in the body.

MAT looks at muscle tightness as a form of protection in the body. Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. Simply stretching, massaging or manipulating the joint in order to release tightness does not solve the cause of the problem. MAT gets to the root of pain or injury by addressing muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness. This helps to restore normal body alignment, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.

This exciting new approach re-activates weak muscles through precision manual therapy and/or corrective isometric exercises by revealing precisely which muscle is inhibited, this becomes the foundation for a targeted treatment program.

If you’re still in pain after trying many other alternative therapies that view muscle tightness as the root of the problem – then MAT could be the answer for you.
